Hello there

I'm Scott Brown, a web designer living in Huddersfield, U.K. I've been working as a full-time web designer since April 2006 but I was doing it for years as a hobby before that.

As one of those people who are lucky enough to turn a hobby into a job, I have a passion for good design, usability and keeping up with the latest design trends.

Web design

Obviously being a web designer, web design is the main focus of my career. I enjoy turning a rough brief into a stylish and easy-to-use interface that people like to use.

I've never specialised. I'm as happy knee-deep in HTML and CSS as I am dragging things around in Photoshop.

I'm good with (X)HTML, CSS, jQuery and am getting rapidly better with PHP and MySQL through my experience of creating Drupal and Wordpress-driven websites.

Print design

As is the case for people who've worked for smaller companies, I am asked to turn my skills to different things from time to time. I've been designing printed promotional material for years and enjoy the relative freedom you have in comparison to designing for the web.

I've been using Adobe Photoshop since version 5 and Illustrator since version 7 as well as dabbling with Fireworks, InDesign, Inkscape, 3D Studio Max and others.

Photography

Again, through working for small companies and turning my hand to different things, I've become a decent product photographer and have the Photoshop skills to back up any photograph I take.

I enjoy having clean, crisp images to use in websites or print work and have been using a Nikon D5000 to create these.
